In my 20’s New Year’s Eve was an event. I searched for weeks for the perfect outfit, my friends and I always had a game plan of epic proportions and without a doubt it was one of the best nights of the year. Well my friends, let me tell you that as you get older your body shuts down and you can no longer tolerate the late nights. Additionally, for some odd reason even after years of building a tolerance, it’s as if the moment you turn 30 your metabolism decides to walk out and you start to get 3 day long hangovers!

You get warned about visual aging, aches and pains, but damn mom you could heave warned me about the lack of energy and my inability to function lol. Ok, so maybe I am exaggerating a bit and in reality 99% of this shift also has to do with that fact that my interest have also changed since I was 22. However, I am holding strong on my hangover theory!
Now that I am in my 30’s I would much rather stay in. That could be at home with my husband and dog making dinner/watch a movie or heading to a friends house to keep it casual. I love being in intimate settings, we can still have fun and go wild, but only until 9 or so haha. Again kidding, but at least I have the flexibility to be on my own schedule now and not reliant on a group or a designated driver.

I am sure everyone still loves the occasionally late night with friends out somewhere new and fun, but at this point in my life it has become sporadic and that is what makes it so great. My parents and in-laws however give me hope that as you get older the party phase comes back around as they are out and about more than my husband and I are. I suppose we are in the re-charging phase of life. In the meantime, I look forward to my second wind!
